Mayor Pete Aguilar (D-Redlands) can’t be too pleased with fellow democrat Justin Kim (D-Loma Linda) this week.
That’s the buzz ou there.
Kim blew Aguilar’s shot at representing the 31st Congressional District.
But Aguilar didn’t help his cause either.
Aguilar and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fell asleep at the wheel and allowed a seat they had a fair chance of winning to slip away.
Nevertheless, Kim ran a grass roots campaign and earned enough votes to gut Aguilar.
Congressman Gary Miller (R-Diamond Bar) and State Senator Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) will now vy for the seat.
Miller has the leg-up with money. That is unless Dutton can find a sugar daddy super-PAC to boost his chances.
Count on Miller, a seven-term member of Congress, to be well-funded.

How about proof reading your posts?
“ou” and “vy”
Bob Dutton should also thank Justin Kim too.

He is, James Ramos gave Dutton huge bonuses for his endorsement, Dutton is sharing the goodies with Kim as we speak!
Good one!
Why is the administrator of this blog anti Dutton, always one sided. If Dutton needs a super PAC, THEN WHAT IS THE special interest of NAR considered? Do we really need to further look into the, or what about the FBI investigatio that Miller has going on with his “tax situatio”. Better yet…we have enough corruption in the IE, do we need another one?
Rep. Gary G. Miller (R-Calif.), under investigation by the FBI for a series of land deals, is now facing alleging that he lied about a land sale that he declined to pay taxes on.
Aguilar has no one to blame but himself. Kim worked at his campaign. While I didn’t vote for him, I admire Kim’s efforts to get his votes. Aguilar presumed he would win the top two, so he put little effort into his campaigning. Maybe this was the way he was going to represent us.
mary,
administrator has NOTHING to do with our opinions or who we support. He just allows us a forum to express ourselves. If you feel outnumbered, let Dutton’s supporters know we are questioning his ability to represent us, and they are welcomed to try and convince us otherwise.
How long has Dutton been in politics?
#3 I love how this always gets derailed to a Neil Derry/James Ramos discussion.
Bob Dutton- the lesser of two evils.
#9 – Who said anything about Derry?
Politically, dutton is a dead man walking.
Justin Kim was a qualified candidate funded by grassroots support. He has no obligation to move aside for the two party institutional machine. The political machine won the day. Sort of like the Politburo elections of the former USSR.
There were never enough Democratic voter participants to win this seat. They fail to vote in meaningful proportion to their registration numbers.
What is the difference of the power of a Superpac, like the many supporting Miller. Do realtors get to decide where their dues go? Same for unions, like SBEPA, the SB County ineffective union. No. The fact that you predicate any chance for Dutton to win is to find a PAC sugardaddy. The local voter be damned. Tea Party ?
Our political system does not blush at 20% voter effort. The day may come folks just stay home from the polls. Tea Party?
#6 – Right on the spot with your comments. Pete has been very lazy at campaigning because he’s been handed everything and hasn’t had to work. Pete is stunned but anyone in the process knows he shouldn’t be. He felt he was the anointed one and found out that politics is about hard work.
I thought all you Dutton haters would be in hiding by now, but I see a lot of you are still anonymously posting…. Did you not learn that you were all wrong. Dutton came in within about a 1000 votes of Miller and spent 1/10th the money ! Blame what ever or whom ever you want, Bob Dutton is supported by the local people of CD31. Sit back and watch what happens now….Dutton will be our next Congressman for CD31. Sorry haters !!!
Breaking News, I believe that grassroots efforts are more effective than SuperPACs. Just look at “Tea Party” candidates who beat incumbents in other state races. SuperPACs fund advertisements and other non-personal ways of campaigning, but there’s nothing more effective than a face-to-face conversation to turn a potential voter. If a candidate is able to mobilize a grassroots effort, he or she can gain an edge. It’s up to the candidate to attract and motivate those grassroots people. That’s the first test of leadership. Each voter still has more power than the dollar. If you care enough about your candidate of choice, then get involved.
Aguilar took the voters for granted and didn’t bother with the face-to-face.
In 2002, Republican Congressman Gary Miller sold 165 acres to the city of Monrovia, California, making him a profit of more than $10 million.
Typically, one would have had to pay state and federal taxes of up to 31 percent on the profit of the sale, but by telling the Internal Revenue Service that Monrovia had forced him to sell the property through eminent domain, the California Republican was able to avoid paying capital gains taxes for two years before he had to reinvest the money in different land.
Miller’s claim that he was forced to sell the land, however, was patently false. In reality, Miller had actually begged the city to buy his property and gone so far as to inappropriately use his congressional staffers to help with his campaign to push the land sale.
Republican house of scandal………….Don’t forget about the property he had in whittier. He funneled all kinds of government grant money into the area for street and light improvements to get the property values to go up…… Along with your post, didn’t he wind up investing that money in Fontana and then pulling that same eminent domain gimmick, get the Fontana council to buy the property at a profit to him???????????Let us also not forget his forays into affordable housing. To repeatedly give affordable housing money to the same developer should raise a lot of red flags.
#6 is right on in describing Mayor Pete. He took the election for granted and was too laid back. that’s why he’s been the worst mayor in Redlands. He would have been a “terrible” Congressman. Thank goodness he done for now.
petey is a lock to run again for Redlands city council. he needs the health insurance the fine taxpayers of Redlands give him since he lost his cushy gig at arrowhead credit union and pretends to have his own business.
Aguilar is atypical stupido. Redlands is the worst managed city in the county. The voters there should throw out every single council member and fire that incompetent, overpaid moron city manager. What idiots.
#20 is right…while Redlands’ “high society” residents are attending all their arts and entertainment performances and “high society” social events, dirt bags like Aguilar are destroying their “once beautiful” city.
Redlands, beware and get involved, with Aguliar at the helm, Redlands will soon be another Colton!
What about Jerry Bean who consistently questions the City Council and votes contrary to Harrison and Aguilar’ Agenda 21 passions?
#22 Jerry Bean is courageous, but he CANNOT DO IT ALONE!!
Jerry Bean needs to start banging on his pals “high society” doors and tell them to skip the opera once in a while, and attend a city council meeting because he needs TROOPS ON GROUND!!
Or like I said, Redlands will become another Colton.
#23 … Wait until July 16 … you will see another who will be in the City Council race who has not held political office yet will stand up against Gardner, Foster, and Harrison … (not me)
who?
Wake Up,
I hope this mysterious individual will be Bean’s ally.
If so, we hope they will unveil their identity soon…Bean needs BACK UP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Harrison is a dangerous, uncontrollable, and unprofessional fool!
He’s a Green Party “know it all nut” who can’t understand common sense, or what is best for the city!!!!!
That he has been on the council for 15 years…WITH NO ONE TO HELP JERRY BEAN TO HOLD HIM BACK FROM DESTROYING REDLANDS IS SHAMEFUL!!
The Redlands’ influential and, so called, educated, better get their heads out of the sand and start paying attention to Jerry Beans’ cry’s for assistance!!!!!!!!!!!
Make no mistake, Aguilar NEVER cared for Redlands, it was only a stepping stone to run for higher office, show the sleazy bozo to the door please!!!!!!!!!
#26 and #27 … patience … s/he will show him/herself on opening date July 16 .. but please participate in the get-out-the-vote when that person presents him/herself … i don’t know of any other candidates yet. stay tuned.
Wake Up…HEY, that should be your new guy/ or gal’s warning to all Redlands residents-WAKE UP. The problem really lies with Redlands’ high society, SO CALLED, EDUCATED, and old timer politicians.
If Redlands prospered, it was due to Republicans. It has been on a decline, and all one needs to do is attend a city council meeting to see first hand WHY, look at the representatives AND THEIR RECORDS.
Why is NO ONE holding the “Harrrisons” and “Aguilars” accountable? Why have the Redlands Republican Woman’s Club dropped the ball and embraced these fools? These woman are suppose to be our eyes and ears and inform us…yet they kiss and embrace the (smiling flattering) enemy.
Why? One reason is…THEY ALL BELONG TO THE REDLANDS COUNTRY CLUB WHERE THEY ALL BECOME BLINDED (FOOLED) WHILE RUBBING SHOULDERS WITH OPPORTUNIST WHO CARE NOTHING OF REDLANDS!
…Out of nowhere, in came the Trojan horse into the Redlands Country Club all full of Democrats and Green Party CRAZIES. THEY OUTSMARTED US BY BEFRIENDING THE REPUBLICANS IN ORDER TO KEEP THE REPUBLICANS FROM ATTACKING THEM OUTSIDE OF THE COUNTRY CLUB, IN THE POLITICAL ARENA …IT WORKED…Good God, what a shame!
Redlands democrats and green partyers laugh and make fun of the Redlands Republican Woman and Redlands Republican “traitor” representatives…all the while the stupid republicans are embracing them, sipping wine and smoking cigars WITH THEM; and claiming these democrats and green party guys are “nice” and THERE IS NO NEED TO OPPOSE THEM FOR THE CITY COUNCIL IS NON PARTISAN! WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP!
WAKE UP REPUBLICANS!
IT DOES MATTER, AGUILAR ONLY WANTED THE COUNCIL AS A STEPPING STONE, HARRISON IS ONLY INTERESTED IN CREATING HAVOC FOR OUR WELL INTENTIONED JERRY BEAN…
I’LL BE PATIENT…BUT START SOUNDING THE ALARMS…REDLANDS NEEDS TO GET OFF THEIR BIKES, TAKE A DAY OFF FROM SIPPING COFFEE AND THE OPERA, GO TO A COUNCIL MEETING AND INFORM THEMSELVES!!
Who specifically appointed Aguilar to City Council in 2006?
