State Senator Bob Dutton

Sunday, March 11, 2012 – 11:30 a.m.

State Senator Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga) left the San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee meeting empty handed on Thursday night.

The California Republican Party requested the county central committee render endorsements for state and congressional offices this month.

Dutton, who is running in the 31st Congressional District and needs the support against well-funded Congressman Gary Miller (R-Diamond Bar), wasn’t able to persuade the group.

No endorsement was made in the CD-31 contest.

Miller, on the other hand, in addition to a million dollar war chest, has the the pocketbook of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) behind him.

Sources say several central committee members don’t like Dutton’s endorsement of San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Chairman James Ramos, a life-long democrat, against County Supervisor Neil Derry, a republican.

Dutton, as of late this week, is telling people he never endorsed Ramos for anything other than his school board seat.

It kind of sounds like Dutton gave the endorsement to Ramos because Derry endorsed Miller.

People are waiting to here the official word from Dutton either way.
