Dreier

The name David Dreier can’t be spoken in the San Gabriel Valley nor the Inland Empire without eliciting some kind of reaction.

He was the face of the Republican Party locally and the area’s most influential member of Congress from either party. He is still the Chairman of the House Rules Committee, a position he has held twice.

In 10 months, Dreier will be leaving the House of Representatives and entering private life. In June, it will mark the first time in three and half decades the name “David Dreier” will not appear on any ballot.

So Stockton has suspended payments to its bondholders and is seeking to renegotiate its debts in hopes of averting a formal bankruptcy.

Sound familiar? It’s what Greece, which also is head-over-heels in debt, is doing.
