Filippi

UPLAND, CA– Upland City Councilman Gino L. Filippi announced today his intention to run for Mayor in the upcoming November 2012 election.

Citing a need to cast a new vision for the city, Filippi will run to bring a fresh perspective to city government.

“Our city needs new ideas, a new vision, operating integrity, and a complete overhaul to help take us through the rest of this decade and beyond”, said Filippi. “We can no longer accept business as usual and rely on the same old guard that got us into this mess”, added Filippi.

Filippi intends to release a campaign platform during the upcoming months that will target his theme of new ideas and vision.

The City of Upland is conducting a regularly scheduled municipal election November 6th to fill one seat on the Council and the Mayor’s seat.

Filippi was first elected to the Upland City Coucil in November of 2010. He is an Upland native, 38 year resident of the Upland and San Antonio Heights area and is co-owner of the Filippi Winery. Currently, Filippi serves as a marketing and business development consultant, and writes a popular wine and history column for the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. He has spent over twenty years as an active community volunteer serving in such organizations as Rotary, Route 66 Community Gardens, and the Cooper Regional History Museum among others.

“This is an important campaign which I am undertaking with focus and forthrightness. Upland needs to move forward. I have the time, resources and I am not afraid of the job. I have several ideas myself, but I’d like to meet as many voters as possible during the campaign to hear their personal comments and suggestions”, said Filippi. “That’s one of the reasons I will be attempting to walk the entire city before Election Day,” he added.
