The Redlands Daily Facts is reporting that San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Chairman and Board of Supervisors candidate James Ramos has bailed out of a candidates forum hosted by the Redlands Tea Party Patriots.
Ramos is citing a ‘scheduling’ conflict as the reason for his planned no-show.
It’ll be interesting to see if Ramos cancels on another face-to-face with Supervisor Neil Derry in front of the Big Bear Democratic Club scheduled for April.
The empty suit is starting to materialize.
Let’s give Mr. Ramos the benefit of the doubt this time. Perhaps there is a legitimate “scheduling conflict.”
However, if he fails to appear and face Neill Derry in April, there will be no doubt that he is trying to avoid a public forum with his challenger.
I have heard Neil Derry speak, and he is informed and articulate. I have never heard James Ramos speak, but based on what I have read, he possess neither of those attributes.
The Ramos Bros. political aspirations (Mikey of a higher office, and the Chief of becoming a County Supervisor) are DOA!
It should be a great event. Its too bad Mr. Ramos won’t be there. I’d like to hear his views on the county. I hope that there’s another opportunity for him to debate the other candidates.
How many debates and forums did Derry have in the previous race?
This race is not about debates but money and endorsements.
Ramos had good advisors. He would be going in an unfriendly forum with the Tea Party. After he destroys Derry with flyers exposing Derry’s links to Irwin and corruption the Tea Party will realize the fraud that Derry has been.
Really Amazing? Ramos won’t debate? Sounds like Derry will get to ride the no show Ramos all the way through the election. Voters wont vote for a guy who won’t face them. Best of luck with that.
Look a good campaign is about getting appropriate exposure.
I am sure Ramos has and will have plenty of public appearances. He does not need to engage in a debate at this moment with someone who does not like Indians/Mexicans and is jealous of the money Ramos makes and will have to spend on his campaign.
There might be a debate but he needs to control the message and do so much later in the campaign.
Did you see that flyer he put out? That is how this campaign will be won.
The funny part is that Derry has lost but does not have a clue.
Will be fun to watch this train wreck as it gathers steam.

Amazing is “willing to bet Derry will be arrested.” I’ll take that bet.
Mike Ramos was clearly out to get Neil Derry, and had unlimited taxpayer money to fund his investigation. If there was absolutely anything that Mr. Ramos could have exaggerated into an action that warranted Mr. Derry being arrested, he would have pounced on it.
Instead, all he could come up with was the ludicrous felony charges that a judge forced him to dismiss.
Ramos bailed out because not only is he uncomfortable with the truth,
but he has NO ANSWERS to legitimate questions Derry has directed at him.
Ramos wants to represent the Third District, yet he refuses to face us and Derry, choosing instead to hide, and all the while polluting our mailboxes with vicious lies about Derry.
If Ramos has something to accuse Derry about, let him come and accuse Derry IN PERSON RAMOS! FACE TO FACE! He can’t because he knows we are informed, and know otherwise.
Running a mailbox campaign with his bottomless supply of millions will not set well with us Third District voters– WE DON’T LIKE COWARDS, AND WE CAN NOT BE BOUGHT.
Ramos, take your millions, your thousand dollar suits, your body guards, pack up and go home, because we are saving the grand finally of your exposure for last.
Oh, and by the way, millions will not buy you respect, integrity or honesty.
James Ramos is not going to grab the bull by the horns, this rodeo is far from over. But James better get on that bucking bull before to long.
Neil Derry will get arrested again? REALLY??? The DA has been known to fabricate a charge or two in their day. I’d say NO WAY if the DA’s office had a steller reputation for the last several years.
OoF, never make a bet when ethics on the part of our DA has been questionable for sometime.

You are such a wise and insightful political consultant for Ramos, pointing out the “Unfriendly Tea Party” and the ” (irrelevant) Erwin factor” and stating that that forum would be NO PLACE FOR COWARDS AND LIARS such as Ramos.
Now being the wise, and expensive, CONSULTANT you are— why not SCHEDULE one of Ramos’ powerful, faithful supporters to show up and defend their candidate— IN PERSON. Nothing less will do.
I mean, hey, REDLANDS IS CRAWLING WITH POWERFUL INFLUENTIAL SUPPORTERS.
The Tea Party should invite them ALL to show up in lieu of James Ramos.

Scheduling should NOT be a problem… THEY HAVE PLENTY OF TIME BEFORE THE FORUM… AND, this event is held in their hometown… their backyard…in the evening… so NO traveling required!

Jim Bueermann, Redlands Cheif of Police Ret. (Come defend your man, and your reputation)
Redlands Professional Fire Fighters, Fire Chief Jeff Frazier, and President Bill Conway (any one of you, show up and speak up to defend James)

It’s all about being part of the Obamanation Affiliation aka DemoRat… at least for the Redlands City Council (everyone but Bean). As far as the Redlands Police and Fire Chiefs, they probably just like the thought of a rich Indian Chief that has already given them a lot of money to be running things. But as far as the rest of the public employees, mainly represented by SBPEA (Hi, Super “WalMart” Mario), all together with public safety unions known as the City’s LABOR PARTNERS, it’s all about KEEPING THEIR JOBS, right Nabar?
Hey what about Jerry and Mikey though, they are (supposedly) GOP? In San Berdoo doo County, guess it’s more about an affiliation with corruption, why else would these GOP Redlands Good Olde Boyz go against the seated Supervisor and endorse a casino boss instead. It is no wonder that law enforcement and other public safety (fire) are lining-up behind this candidate, THEY FEEL THREATENED that the status quo, which allows them to keep their lucrative employment situations in tact.
Just show you the money, you say? Forget Rizzo in Bell, San Bernardino County/ Redlands have the two biggest abusers of SPIKING PUBLIC PENSIONS with ret.- County Counselor Stringer and ret.-Redlands Police Chief Bueermann. Now that Rizzo’s retirement has been slashed by PERS/ LA County/ CA’s AG down to $150K, both Stringer and Bueermann’s packages (pension/ benefits) eclipse that number by two to three fold ($300- $450K). Do these public officials think that the public is that stupid that we won’t be able to figure out that this isn’t a fiscally sustainable model any more, fat pensions have to go, as does the $20K paid to all state judges as a stipend from the County Board of Supervisors.
The old guard is so threatened by the seated Supervisor’s steps to reform this political free-for-all, so much so that they get the AG’s office (because DA Mikey has a “conflict”) to bring bogus felony charges against Derry, for a similar campaign finance violation that the DA himself and spouse Gretchen got a slap on the hand for by the FPPC, even though it was for twice the amount (10K!)
Funny how Gretchen Ramos, DA Mike Ramos’ wife, has NOT ONCE explained the thousands of dollars she received straight out of her husband’s political funds- ON A NON-ELECTION YEAR, and when Ramos was UNOPPOSED! HMMM!
Both DA Mike Ramos, and his wife Gretchen, are guilty of laundering political contributions- how? Contributors seeking “special favors” from District Attorney MIKE RAMOS legally “contributed” to his PAC committee, Ramos then turned around and WROTE OUT A BIG FAT CHECK made out to “Gretchen Ramos”, his wife, which she never could explain why.
Mike and Gretchen Ramos were caught red handed literally transferring CONTRIBUTORS MONEY into Gretchen Ramos’ PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNT, they purposely did not report it. Once caught, they laughed it off as some sort of “oops” oversight and quietly paid their fine to the FPPC.
What I don’t understand is why do you all care so much about a forum in Derry friendly territory? He has their support anyway right? I hear a great deal about 12 % conservative advantage.
What you folks should worry about is that new conservative guy from 29 Palms. The Tea Party will decide to give him a shot over Ramos or Derry. Derry can’t afford to lose one vote to him. This forum will bleed votes from one so called conservative ( former Union guy Derry) to another.
Ramos will finish Derry off in Nov. This script is too easy to write.

again, you bring up the irrelevant to make excuses for Ramos.
So what if “many more forums are to come?”
Ramos has backed off the most important one that will be attended by some of the most informed and active voters in the Third District- if he can’t muster up enough fortitude for that forum to answer questions…how then could he on a daily basis be expected, as Supervisor, to face questions and make decisions?
You are basing his ability to face questions and make decisions on his attendance to a forum hosted by the Redlands Tea Party Patriots.

Ramos knows if he showed-up to the Redlands Tea Party forum at Mill Creek, he might not escape with his freeloading, Obamanation loving scalp still in tact.
