The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will consider slashing their own lavish benefits package Tuesday morning.
A benefits package unmatched anywhere in the state and possibly country.
The key being their “own” benefits.
Supervisors have been reluctant to apply the same cut to the offices of Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator, District Attorney, Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector, and Assessor-Recorder.
All high-paying positions.
Supervisors appear fearful of backlash from certain members of the group.
The county has examined the compensation of the four countywide elected officials and the results show the need for the same reduction.
Will it happen?
Probably not.

After what happened to Neil Derry, the likelihood of any of the other supervisors supporting a reduction in benefits to the DA or his department is slim and none.
Actually, I think the current BOS is full of cowards. Elected officials showed their true colors when efforts to voluntarily reduce compensation were scoffed at. If anyone should have benefits cut, it is them. Go along or get your nose pushed in the poop pile.
