SAN BERNARDINO – A fourth administrator at San Bernardino Valley College has been placed on paid leave, a district human resources executive confirmed Tuesday.

Herb English, who was placed on leave in recent weeks, is the fourth administrator in the college’s Student Services Department to be placed on leave this year.

They include the department’s top administrator, Damon Bell, vice president of student services.

The first person to be placed on leave, Fernando Poveda, later resigned, said Jack Miyamoto, head of human resources in the San Bernardino Community College District.

Miyamoto and other district officials declined to say why the administrators were placed on leave.

Cadelia James, a former member of the college’s student governing body who worked with English and other administrators, said she’s heard few specifics about the college’s actions.

“But I’ve heard little things here and there from other people,” she said.

Rumors generally involve the administrators’ dealings with the Associated Students of San Bernardino Valley College, James said.

“And I’ve heard rumors that (English’s leave) could have something to do with other programs that he’s had on campus,” James said.
