The writing is on the wall, or should we say on the agenda, in the budget standoff at the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
First District Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt has been blocking the approval of first quarter budget adjustments affecting millions of dollars in funding.
The reason? Mitzelfelt is unhappy with his district staff funding. Funding that Mitzelfelt’s colleagues ripped-off for themselves.
It’s arguable as whether or not the term “colleagues” or Chief Executive Officer Greg Devereaux’s “minions” applies.
Hmm… We’ll have to think about that one.
Yes, Mitzelfelt has rendered the minions temporarily powerless.
And Supes Josie Gonzales and Janice Rutherford, two of the three aforementioned minions, have been whining like babies during the standoff.
A position they don’t like to say the least.
Anyways, it looks as if Mitzelfelt has either caved or cut a deal.
Why you ask?
All funding items held up are now on Tuesday’s consent calendar.
Mitzelfelt’s stand is proving popular in his district, but it’s unlikely he obtained anything significant for his efforts.
Hopefully it was worth it.
After all he’s not known for being a tough guy.
But it has been entertaining.
