The San Bernardno County Board of Supervisors is set to impose a hefty pay cut on the Specialized Peace Officers Unit. A represented by the San Bernardino County Safety Employees’ Benefit Association (SEBA).

A cut of 14%.

The unit is comprised of Probation Corrections Officers who staff the county’s juvenile detention facilities.

This is first time that cuts of such magnitude have ever been inflicted on a SEBA bargaining unit.

Even though the cuts can only be imposed for one year at a time, the move spells trouble between the board and the union.

Clearly, Chief Executive Officer Greg Devereaux is out to show SEBA there’s a new boss in town.

It will be very interesting to see how this whole ordeal plays out.

One possible move would be for SEBA to put its money behind the board of supervisors pay-reduction measure currently in circulation.

The unit next up for possible imposition is the Safety Unit representing Sheriff’s Deputies.
