The leader of the board that controls San Bernardino International Airport announced on Wednesday an aggressive effort to respond to concerns about the airport’s operation.

The details of that response were not included in the letter, which Interim Executive Director A.J. Wilson sent after the San Bernardino International Airport Authority voted Nov. 30 to answer questions raised by a the San Bernardino County Grand Jury’s investigation into the airport.

“We welcome the clarifications of the Grand Jury who, as we, wish to insure that the San Bernardino International Airport is managed and operated with the highest professional standards,” Wilson wrote. “…We have already taken steps to address their suggested improvements and are conducting a review which will set in place policies and procedures that meet the highest professional, accounting, and public accountability standards.”

Wilson’s letter follows another response to the Grand Jury – sent before he took office – saying the investigation was riddled with errors. The Grand Jury took the unusual step of refuting that claim in November.

Since then, airport officials have already begun fixing the concerns raised by the report, Wilson said.
