Boy you gotta hand it to the governor and state legislature.

The Legislative Analyst’s Office for the State of California has just dropped a bombshell this morning.

The LAO is projecting a budget deficit for the 2012-13 fiscal year at a stunning $13 billion.

Yes, you read correctly. I said $13 billion.

For a state that’s sliding further into the gutter, the size of the deficit means one less week of school for students of primary and secondary public schools, and further cuts to local governments.

The smoke and mirrors used to pass the current year budget is playing a major role in the new deficit number.

The size of government needs to shrink and the state legislature is incapable of accomplishing anything close.

Expect democrats to push for higher taxes and republicans to push for more cuts.

Playing that same old song.
