CORRUPTION IN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

A San Bernardino Superior Court judge lifted travel restrictions and ordered the removal of GPS bracelets from defendants in the Colonies conspiracy case this morning.

Judge Michael Smith said the defendants will have to inform the court when and where they are traveling.

The defendants — Rancho Cucamonga developer Jeff Burum, former county Supervisor Paul Biane, Supervisor Gary

Ovitt’s former chief of staff, Mark Kirk, and Jim Erwin, former assistant assessor and former chief of staff for Supervisor Neil Derry — moved to the court hallway following the hearing to have their GPS bracelets removed. Cheers and applause erupted in the hallway.
