Richard Bray, the interim superintendent of the San Bernardino City Unified School District, is being paid $952.84 daily, according to his contract that was made public this week.

The pay is at the same rate that his predecessor, Arturo Delgado, made in annual salary, district spokeswoman Linda Bardere said. It is also in line proportionally with another interim superintendent’s pay.

Bray was hired July 18 to replace Delgado, who left to become superintendent of the Los Angeles County Office of Education. Delgado was making about $209,000 in base pay, plus the district was paying his employee contribution to the retirement system, a sum of about $16,000.

Based on 20 work days a month and 240 work days a year, Bray’s pay would project to $228,681 annually. The district, however, according to the contract signed Aug. 9, will not pay Bray for any holidays or vacation days.

The district will reimburse Bray for mileage driven for the district and any professional memberships and conference fees.
