Riverside County Supervisor John Tavaglione next week will hold a kick-off fundraiser for his 2012 congressional bid.

Tavaglione has announced that he will run in a proposed new Riverside-Moreno Valley centric congressional district.

In a letter to supporters, Tavaglione touted his ties to the community and 17 years on the Board of Supervisors as well as his efforts this year as president of the California State Association of Counties to find a bipartisan budget solution in Sacramento.

“As a fourth generation Riverside resident who has lived in the proposed district since I was born, I’ve worked my entire life with one goal in mind — to improve our community,” Tavaglione said in the letter.
