The transportation planning agency for San Bernardino County has new leadership this week as the board of directors named a temporary executive director and announced the election of a new board president.

Ty Schuiling of San Bernardino was named interim executive director at Wednesday’s meeting of the San Bernardino Associated Governments board. Schuiling’s career with SanBAG began in 1990, when he was director of comprehensive planning.

“The board selected Ty Schuiling because of his broad experience in transportation and his long tenure with SanBAG,” said board President Larry McCallon, mayor of Highland.

Schuiling was named director of planning and programming in 1997. He has been involved in air quality planning, congestion management, fund allocation and agency representation on federal, state and regional forums.

“It was in the best interest of the agency to choose an interim executive director who is familiar with the agency, its processes and responsibilities, and who knows the individual players, both internally and regionally,” McCallon said.
