Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday signed legislation that would shrink a local water board and make it easier for firefighters to get special driver licenses.

A bill by state Sen. Gloria Negrete McLeod, D-Chino, allows seven-member water boards to become five-member water boards. The San Bernardino Valley Water Conservation District sponsored the measure because it said a five-member board would save money.
