San Bernardino Associated Governments Executive Director Deborah Barmack announced late Monday she is retiring, after two decades with the agency and four as its leader.

“I have enjoyed every minute of my work at SANBAG and regret that I will no longer be involved in the many wonderful improvements and programs which serve the residents of San Bernardino County,” Barmack said in a letter announcing her departure.

“On the other hand, I am looking forward to more leisure time in retirement after over forty years of public service in this County.”

She said she plans to leave the agency, responsible for countywide transportation and land use planning, effective Aug. 8.
