So, San Bernardino Mayor and International Airport Authority Chairman Pat Morris says there is a signed letter of interest, with a Mexican-based International Airline, to operate flights out of San Bernardino International Airport (SBIA).
Well, that’s what Morris says in Cassie MacDuff’s column in Thursdays edition of The Press-Enterprise.
My first response was to laugh out loud!
So what’s the name of this airline?
The airport that has slowly become a point of controversy as well as a sinkhole for $142 million, and counting, of taxpayer money.
Yes, people, as well as the local media, have finally started to wake-up and see what has gone terribly wrong with the redevelopment of the former Norton Air Force Base.
SBIA has had a few “one-flight or so per week” wonders over the past fifteen years. One of them, if I recall correctly, was Mexican-based as well.
It failed miserably.
I was wondering why all the talk of an airline coming to the airport had quietly faded away from Morris’ proclamations.
Now we know why.
The boondoggle continues……
