It’s definitely redistricting time in San Bernardino County.

While neighboring Riverside County wraps up its boundary realignment process, neighboring San Bernardino County is in the midst of its typical malaise.

However, one fact is becoming absolutely clear.

The Mountain Communities don’t care too much for Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford.

Rutherford, whose predominantly West-End District stretches into the western edge of the San Bernardino Mountains, has received some surprising input.

Yesterday county supervisors held another public workshop to discuss future supervisorial district boundaries.

Several mountain residents appeared at the hearing to register their preference to be represented in the Third District and by Supervisor Neil Derry.

Rutherford, who wants a larger portion of the Moutain landscape in her district, appeared to have a difficult time acknowledging the input saying “Wouldn’t it be better having two supervisors?”

The Mountain residents have a point.

They have no common interest with the other 90 percent of Rutherford’s constituents.

But then again. When has commensense ever prevailed?
