Riverside Development Director Deanna Lorson on Wednesday was named an assistant city manager, becoming one of three executives with that title.

Paul Sundeen, the city’s chief finance officer, and Belinda Graham round out City Manager Brad Hudson’s management team, which underwent a major shift last year with the sudden departure of Assistant City Manager Tom De Santis, who left for undisclosed reasons.

Lorson has worked in local government for more than 20 years, serving in Corona’s planning department and the Riverside County Economic Development Agency before coming to Riverside in 2009, according to a city news release.

In her new position, Lorson will oversee development, public works, and the city’s airport, library and museum operations. Graham was heading those functions and managing the police and fire departments, public utilities and internal services such as human resources.

Graham said Lorson was instrumental in opening the renovated Fox Performing Arts Center and has handled numerous projects in the $1.48 billion Riverside renaissance public works initiative.
