The San Bernardino County Republican Central Committee had a mere $219 in its back account as of mid-February.

Since then, the fortunes of the GOP in the state’s largest county have improved slightly. State reports filed this week show that, as of last Saturday, the committee had $3,539 cash on hand. The increase followed about $1,200 in monetary contributions and $3,687 in nonmonetary contributions over the past two months.

The county party has struggled to regain its footing following the reign of former chairman Bill Postmus. Postmus, a former county supervisor and assessor, pleaded guilty last month to various charges.
