San Bernardino County’s public employee labor unions appear to be loaded with political cash this year.
A factor surely to play into concession talks with county management.
As of December 31, 2010, the four independent county unions collectively held $1,747,479 in cash-on-hand.
Here’s a breakdown.
San Bernardino County Safety Employees' Benefit Association (SEBA) $ 638,040 San Bernardino Public Employees Association (SBPEA) $ 630,043 San Bernardino County Public Attorneys Association $ 405,522 San Bernardino County Professional Firefighters Local 935 $ 75,874 .
With three months into the 2011 reporting period the balance has most likely increased.
It should be noted that SEBA possesses a treasury of approximately $5 million, of which $638,040 is currently designated for political activity.
County Supervisors Brad Mitzelfelt, Neil Derry and Josie Gonzales stand for re-election in June 2012.
Report all sides and report how much money that all PACs have donated in County/City elections. The builder organizations have owned development in this County for years and no one complained about them. I want to know where all PAC money goes. Informed us and then we can make informed votes.
The Public Attorneys Union had to spend large amounts of their revenue fighting the management of the Public Defender’s office.I doubt that they still have that much money. It was money well spent since it resulted in the firings of Boxer and Ferguson. I think the union should sue both of them as individuals to recoup monies spent fighting their oppressive management style. Frankly, most of the Public Defender’s are still recovering from Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
Actually Marilyn, the PD’s might want to kick in for some reimbursements too as the DA’s have had no need to spend or utilize union intervention like the PD’s, nor did they derive any benefit from that conflagration. And as Mikey has drawn the ire of the 5th floor, we need the pac well funded to convince anyone at the Taj of our value.
