UPLAND – FBI investigators spoke with three police captains Wednesday and Thursday as part of their ongoing investigation.

The investigators called prior to coming out to ask questions, said Capt. Jeff Mendenhall, who is acting police chief while Steve Adams is out on medical leave.

Two interviews took place Wednesday afternoon and a third interview was Thursday morning.

Mendenhall could not say what questions were asked.

“I’m not aware of the status of their investigation,” Mendenhall said. “The Police Department and its employees are going to cooperate fully with the FBI as all city employees are.”

Mendenhall said he has spoken to FBI officials before and is aware of other city employees with whom agents have spoken.
