Assemblyman Paul Cook has filed the necessary paperwork to start raising money to run for the state Senate in 2012.
Cook, R-Yucca Valley, lives in the 31st Senate District, a seat now held by Senate Minority Leader Bob Dutton, R-Rancho Cucamonga. Term limits force Dutton to leave the Senate next year.
Between now and then, though, the Citizens Redistricting Commission will draw new legislative and congressional lines. Cook’s home could remain in Dutton’s district or go into a different one.
