The plot thickens in the battle between a popular local blogger and her government employer.

San Bernardino County has been locked in a protracted battle with employee Sharon Gilbert over her blog iePolitics.com

The county wants the website, which has exposed serious and embarrassing missteps by the county, shut down and/or Gilbert gone.

InlandPolitics.com has learned that an e-mail sent by the county to Gilbert’s attorney last summer states that if she wants her worker’s compensation matter handled she would have to resign her nearly thirty-year job with the Southern California employer.

The county self-insures for its own worker’s compensation coverage.

Yesterday the county informed Gilbert that she will be terminated this coming Friday in the event she can’t travel to a physician for a renewed off-work order.

The county’s risk management division has denied Gilbert transportation assistance via the worker’s compensation process.
