The San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters has finished county ballots from the Nov. 2 election and on Monday certified the election results.

Those results will go to the Board of Supervisors next week for final approval.

In the meantime, county residents have until 5 p.m. on Monday to request a recount.

In one of the most-watched local races, challenger Janice Rutherford ended up 3,080 votes – or about 3.6 percent of the more than 85,000 votes cast – ahead of incumbent 2nd District County Supervisor Paul Biane.

Most other local races were not that close.

Rep. Joe Baca, D-San Bernardino, the only member of Congress whose district is entirely within San Bernardino County, beat Republican challenger Scott Folkens by more than 33,000 votes, or about 31 percent of the total votes cast.

In the 62nd and 63rd State Assembly Districts, the only Assembly districts entirely within San Bernardino County, Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter, D-Rialto, and Assemblyman-elect Mike Morrell, R-Rancho Cucamonga, were also well ahead of their respective competitors.
