For outgoing county counsel Ruth Stringer, it’s a better Thanksgiving than most of us realized.
Back on November 15th, InlandPolitics.com published a story on Stringer’s pension benefits.
In particular, Stringer’s annual pension is estimated at $271,000.
However, this is just a starting point.
According to state law, Stringer’s annual pension, paid by the San Bernardino County Employees Retirement Association (SBCERA) can increase up to 2% per year every April 1st under automatic cost-of-living-adjustment provisions.
At age 60, Stringer’s published standard life expectancy is an additional 24 years.
So Stringer’s pension, while starting out at $271,000 per year, will likely escalate to roughly $427,000 per year.
The total remaining lifetime windfall?
$8,241,000……….
Happy Thanksgiving.
This is despicable!
Lay off more teachers to help pay this man.
Oink! Oink!
that just pisses me off!!!!!
Unbelieveable!
This is what happens when accountability only applies to the line staff level employee. Sups, Managers and elected officials play by a different set of rules; do as I say not as I do.
Makes you wonder if, on a slow news day, any cub reporter couldn’t just throw out a random theory or corruption, run it past a few 5th floor “players”, and end up with the next SB County scandal.
The next scandal they have is already in play. They have kept this information from public and tax payer’s view. It is a Half a Billion Law Suit that is sitting in Federal Court against the 5th floor and others.. The USDC case number is CV-10-07752. How many times are they going to brake the law at tax payers expense. This Law Suit was filed in October 2010. I wonder how many more there are…. If anyone else had committed the actions that have been done to us they would be sitting in jail, why not them?
@Traci: The problem of corruption and graft with the County AND City of San Bernardino is systemic. It’s a culture and that’s the way they’ve always done business for two centuries. It’s not morally correct, it’s just the way it is unfortunately.
The powers-that-be and/or authorities are letting this continue to happen so they are involved and benefiting as well. Shame on them.
Anonyomous: I appericate your comment. Everyone has a time when they are held accountable for their actions and these people are not any differant. Everyting in American History has been one baby step at a time. This is one of those things. They have alot of things they are going to have to answer for.
