A pension reform measure backed by members of the Riverside County board of supervisors has bested a competing union-backed measure.

Measure M, backed by county supervisors received 61.11%, while union-backed Measure L garnered 52.33%.

Measure L was placed on the ballot by the Riverside Sheriffs Association.

The measure receiving the highest percentage of yes votes above fifty percent prevails.

Measure L would have solidified significant pension protections for county-level public safety employees.
