Gino Filippi will replace Tom Thomas on the Upland city council after placing a strong second behind Ray Musser Tuesday night.
Council member Brendan Brandt was also reelected. He placed third and well ahead of Thomas.
Challenger Mark Creighton came in a distance fifth.
The race was a best three out of five contest.
