CHINO HILLS – The Chino Hills Tea Party drew about 150 people to its pre-election event on Saturday afternoon.
The event, touted as a “get out the vote rally,” featured several speakers and performers in the Center Court at the Shoppes at Chino Hills.
All of the folding chairs were filled, but that didn’t stop a number of people from gathering at the sides of the seating area to hear such speakers as Damon Dunn, candidate for secretary of state, Paul Chabot, state chairman of the Veterans for Carly (Fiorina, Republican candidate for sena tor); and Rep. Gary Miller, R-Brea, among others.
Taking the country back from those on the left and restoring traditional American values were the common themes for most of the speakers.
Miller said not all tea party members are Republicans. Some are Democrats and some are independents, he told the audience during his brief remarks.
The one thing all members have in common is the mistrust of the current government’s direction, he said.
“We’ve got to change this country,” Miller said. “We can’t keep doing what we’re doing to our kids and grandkids.”
