California’s campaign finance watchdog has confirmed to iePolitics.com that its investigation of San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos and his campaign Treasurer, San Bernardino-based certified public accountant Marvin Reiter, is still open and active.

A complaint to the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) was filed several months ago, which alleged Ramos misreported and misspent campaign funds.

Ramos and Reiter reported that the two-term DA spent approximately $13,000 in credit card charges related to campaign and officeholder expenses.

However, the suspicious part of the report was the failure to itemize any of the charges, which is required for expenditures of $100 or more.

Ramos and Reiter certified under penalty of perjury that all the credit card charges were under $100.

At first, the commission initially requested additional information from Ramos and Reiter, but approximately a month later acknowledged it had opened a formal investigation.
