Ramos

Friday, October 1, 2010 – 7:40 p.m.

Next Tuesday the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will retain an outside law firm to defend District Attorney Mike Ramos.

Ramos and the county were served with a summons and complaint by plaintiff Cheryl Ristow in mid-September.

Ristow, a former mistress of the District Attorney, alleges Ramos and his management staff retaliated against her for refusing to keep quiet, when news of the affair was disclosed in a local newspaper.

The affair is alleged to have occurred during the period 2003 to 2005.

Item #19 on the meeting agenda consent calendar sets in place a retainer with the firm of Gresham, Savage, Nolan & Tilden at an hourly rate of $275.00 per hour without a cap.

Interestingly, in an unusal twist, Ramos was given the luxury of handpicking his personal law firm in lieu of the county making the selection on his behalf.

Gresham has been a regular campaign contributor to Ramos, who has paid the firm several thousand dollars from his campaign committee bank account for unknown legal work.
