Supervisor Josie Gonzales

As I noted last night, I finally took the time to view Tuesday’s San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting. I had heard the doctors showed up in force and by force. And that they did.
Dr. David Lanum spoke first. Honestly, I was embarrassed for the doctor. His “speech” was mostly memorized and well rehearsed. And that is okay. His presentation, however, reminded me of Mark Anthony’s soliloquy to the Roman people in The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. You remember:
“Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears. I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him. The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones. So let it be with Caesar.”
Actually, as I re-read these few lines from Shakespeare, I realize just how much the presentation seemed like it belonged in the Old Globe Theatre rather than in the chambers of the Board of Supervisors. We are hearing stories that Dr. Dev GnanaDev, medical director for Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC), is threatening employees into publicly supporting him and the play-acting we witnessed Tuesday seems to be indicative of that situation.
Although Dr. Lanum may very well support Dr. GnanaDev, the theatrics to his presentation made his words seem disingenuous. They certainly did not appear to be from the heart, but rather, from the pocketbook.
But as also mentioned yesterday, the most humorous part of the presentation did not come from Dr. Lanum, but from Fifth District Supervisor Josie Gonzales. For someone who uses the term “transparency” like most people use toilet paper, she sure seemed upset that the current scandal wasn’t covered up. I guess we only want transparency when the news is good.

When is Josie’s seat up for grabs? I want to run against her. Would I have to live in San Bernardino city to do so?
tic, tic, tic… the orchestra’s music is fading… tic, tic, tic… the rearranging of deck furniture was for not… tic, tic, tic… as the fate of the SS Titanic, the iceberg did not fall into the dark sea after contact with SS Gnanadev, tic, tic, tic…
We had faith in you Josie. We thought you were not slick like so many others. But free and under-the-radar health care from your friend Dr Gnanadev? Say it ain’t so Josie.
