Sarah Palin said she was going to get involved in this year’s primary elections and she’s stepping into the California GOP primary race for U.S. Senate and has endorsed former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

The Fiorina campaign just put out a statement from the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate saying that “Carly is the common sense conservative that California needs and our country could sure use in these trying times. She’s a businesswoman who has run a major corporation…We can trust Carly to do the right thing for America’s economy and to make the principled decisions she has throughout her professional career.”

Palin’s endorsement of Fiorina to face incumbent Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer this fall runs counter to the Tea Party folks she has become a hero to.
