This morning a Superior Court Judge denied a procedural motion to dismiss all four felony counts against Rancho Cucamonga City Councilman Rex Gutierrez.
The charges stem from Gutierrez’s employment with the San Bernardino County Assessor’s office in 2007-08.
The commencement date of the estimated ten day trial is set for April 12, 2010

FINALLY!
Yes finally we will get the see the great Adam Aleman at work, if Adam can’t swing this one with Rex, I doubt he will do very well on the others.
What do you think publius?
This entire series of charges against an outstanding City Council member stinks more than my dog’s doodoo! This is a politicaly motivated charge. Give me a job, don’t supervise me and let me come to work and leave work when I want – That is a job description for 80% of Government workers. The DA ought to look at ALL county employees. Where is the county Inspector General?
Besides, Rex was busy peforming Governmental functions as a city council member. In that regard, he was always working – always on the clock.
Ralphy… tell it to the jury.
So maybe I should run for City office, get elected, ingratiate myself to big money developers, have them get me a cushy job where I have no qualifications, allowing me to perform “Governmental functions” as a city council member. Then maybe I can start my own newspaper, force city vendors to buy ads in that paper, and then resign because I have violated state laws. Naw… nobody would believe me!
