I also fail to see the import of the Dept. of Education, most of the CHP, most of Cal Trans, any of the dept's of consumer affairs that do not routinely inspect those they license (most are complaint based only), the DGS, and many many other social programs that only encourage "hard working" couch sitters to continue their pursuit of the perfect Jerry Springer episode.
Maybe you should look into the history of this state, realize what our taxes used to provide in the 70's and 80's. Look up State College tuition, DMV fees, cost of goods and associated sales taxes, various permit fees (or the lack thereof). Then you can realize how little you get (unless you are one of the aforementioned couch sitters) from the massively increased effective tax rate you pay to this state government.
The only thing I need the government to do for me is provide for the civil defense and protection of our property. Try a breath of fresh freedom, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Susan, I do not want to pay for all the boards and other stipend laden politcal rewards for termed out politicians. Our revenue streams are depleted because of the onerous burdens placed on businesses in this state. Drop the BS and red tape and business will come back.
Lower the amount of money paid out to Welfare and people would have an incentive to work. Quit giving my money to foreign nationals whose biggest acomplishment was crossing a border in time to drop a kid.
Stop subsidizing programs with little accountability and no results.

Susan – I’m willing to pay for those items. I expect a flurry of dissent, that's fair, but the truth is no one wants to pony up. We want good schools, good police, great roads and fire protection but no one wants to pay.

Once again people like unwilling want services but do not want to pay for them. A recent proposal has suggested; 1) that government employees take further cuts to salaries and 2) that the legislature should garner additional powers to raise taxes; along with other gimmicky propositions.
I wonder how it would work if you sent Sacramento an IOU for your taxes owed, or promised to pay your car registration as soon as you were allowed to pass that financial burden on to someone else!
Only two viable solutions exist: deep, drastic cuts to non-essential government services and effective regulations that spur on job creation. But, the masses will once again allow the miscreants of the delta to take this state to an additional level of taxpayer sponsored succor.

There is no mystery to the fiscal woes being incurred by the hard working taxpayers of this once great state: too much spending by legislators in Sacramento.
