A debate for the three GOP U.S. Senate hopefuls is set for May 6.

The 60-minute debate, sponsored by ABC News and the League of Women Voters, will take place in Los Angeles and be broadcast on ABC affiliates across the state, debate organizer Scott Regberg said.

He said all three GOP candidates have agreed to attend.

Carly Fiorina’s campaign announced in an e-mail that she had committed to the debate.

Chuck DeVore’s spokesman Joshua Treviño said the Irvine assemblyman is planning to participate in the May 6 debate, but questioned why the candidates couldn’t come together sooner to air their views.

“It’s ridiculous that [Fiorina would] commit to a debate before the League of Women Voters eleven weeks from now, but not before her fellow Republicans three weeks from now,” he wrote in an e-mail, referring to the California Republican Party’s decision to can the idea of inviting candidates to debate at next month’s convention.
