San Bernardino County’s $4.9 billion investment pool has been ranked No. 1 in the country for its 2009 returns by TRACS Financial Institute of Public Investment Management.
TRACS, based in Park City, Utah, monitors public investment pool yields across the country on a monthly basis. San Bernardino County led the institute’s Top 10 list for January.
Annette Kerber, the county’s assistant treasurer-tax collector, said her office’s conservative approach in managing its investment pool is the reason it has shot to the top of TRACS’ rating system.
The office competitively bids every investment it makes, which typically ensures better returns.
