isPermaLink="false">http://inlandpolitics.com/blog/?p=1712#comment-200

let's see...$300k/mo salary; $33k/mo County paid deferred comp; $1k/mo car allowance; $500/mo phone allowance; super majority to be removed; and I am sure there are benefits/perks I've missed.
In this time of possible County layoffs and State raids on County funds our BOS gives a man (with no County government experience, who doesn't understand the rules of filling out a 700 form, and apparently hasn't a clue as to what is a conflict of interest), a job that will pay him upwards to $700k/year - has the BOARD lost their minds??? where is the sense in this???
Let's see Greg D. give away those $600 bottle of wine to the employees that he will be laying off to pay for his annual salary!!!

let’s see…$300k/mo salary; $33k/mo County paid deferred comp; $1k/mo car allowance; $500/mo phone allowance; super majority to be removed; and I am sure there are benefits/perks I’ve missed.

In this time of possible County layoffs and State raids on County funds our BOS gives a man (with no County government experience, who doesn’t understand the rules of filling out a 700 form, and apparently hasn’t a clue as to what is a conflict of interest), a job that will pay him upwards to $700k/year – has the BOARD lost their minds??? where is the sense in this???

Let’s see Greg D. give away those $600 bottle of wine to the employees that he will be laying off to pay for his annual salary!!!

By: Steve Brow

The point is, Devereaux uses the fact that he gave a $600 bottle of champaign to the owner of the private jet as a defense of the appropriateness of his actions. He has become blind to the fact that he has become imbedded in the culture of the wealthy developers in the region and totally disconnected from the average citizen of Ontario or the greater San Bernardino County that he now represents.
What percentage of the people of Ontario have ever bought a $600 bottle for themselves? What percentage would think that this was an appropriate gift for on on their friends or a justification for accepting a perk?
What percentage of Ontario voters would look upon this transaction and think that Devereaux is a guy who is thinking about them?
Remember, all of you who are thinking about public service, and who might get drawn into the praise, the priviledge, and the perks; government is by the consent of the governed.
Why are the majority of corruption articles that we read in the newspapers aimed at politicos? Why , as a result of the practice of their profession, are there a greater percentage of politicos serving time in prison for felonies than doctors, lawyers, journalists, or even tree trimmers?

The point is, Devereaux uses the fact that he gave a $600 bottle of champaign to the owner of the private jet as a defense of the appropriateness of his actions. A perfect example of a man with to much money. How nice this would be.

A bottle of champagne for $600.00.
