SAN BERNARDINO • County supervisors Tuesday are expected to name Ontario City Manager Greg Devereaux and the new county administrative officer, multiple knowledgeable sources said.
Tuesday’s board agenda includes hiring the county administrative officer. Devereaux had been rumored as the next CAO since shortly after former CAO Mark Uffer was fired “for no cause” on Nov. 17.
Since the county began recruitment for a replacement in December, officials have received and reviewed more than 277 applications, according to the board agenda. The position pays $274,000 annually.

Uffer was Devilreaux’s mini-me. Don’t forget, the County was courting Greg to leave Ontario before they hired Uffer. I don’t get it though, if Devereaux didn’t participate in the application process for consideration, what happened to the public service hiring/ appointment process Mr. Lameberto… or has that morphed into WHAT EVER THE CHAIRMAN WANTS?
