Months after the governor accused the State Bar of California of being “overly political” and vetoed a bill that would have allowed the organization to collect dues, the governor may be in the mood to reconsider.

The veto occurred after news leaked out about a bar committee’s unfavorable rating of former Sen. Chuck Poochigian (R-Fresno), whom Schwarzenegger appointed to the state Court of Appeal.

State Bar President Howard Miller said today that the leak was investigated but no culprit found. He said the governor’s office invited the State Bar to resubmit the bill after the organization adopted stronger internal financial controls.

“We believe we have met all his [Schwarzenegger’s] concerns,” Miller said.
